Synergia Ranch Organic, Division of The Institute of Ecotenics
An oasis in the desert, Synergia Ranch is set on 111 acres of high desert prairie, dotted with pinon and juniper trees. Synergia Ranch started its orchard in 1976 on a wind-swept plateau south of Santa Fe. Now thirty years later, the four hundred fruit trees planted have flourished. Though the vegetable farm is less than half an acre, the soil, drip irrigation and intensive farming methods make it produce abundantly. In 2010, the vegetable farm was certified organic.

About

An oasis in the desert, Synergia Ranch is set on 111 acres of high desert prairie, dotted with pinon and juniper trees south of Santa Fe in the foothills of the Cerrillos Hills.. Synergia Ranch started an organic soil enrichment and tree planting program in 1969 when the property was bought to reverse a long history of soil erosion and degradation. Over a thousand trees were planted including a 4.5-acre fruit orchard with over four hundred fruit trees and vegetable gardens started. Decades of composting have made both vegetable farm and orchard flourish. Though the vegetable farm is less than half an acre, the soil, drip irrigation and intensive farming methods make it produce abundantly. From the outset, we have used a natural, non-chemical and regenerative approach to restoring our land and producing food. In 2002, the orchard was certified organic and in 2010, the vegetable farm was certified organic.

What We Do With Our Products

We sell our products, preserve them, eat them, share them with family and neighbors and donate them.

Where to Find Our Products

Among our important customers for our fruit and vegetables are two Community Supported Agriculture organizations, Beneficial Farms and Mo Gro, the La Montanita Coop stores, Natural Grocers, Whole Foods as well as restaurants in Santa Fe and Albuquerque. We do farmers markets like the Santa Fe Farmers Market, the Downtown Grocers Market in Albuquerque and also smaller markets like Cerrillos. Proud to be a part of our local and statewide farmers communities, we were honored when Synergia Ranch Organics received the Good Earth award at the New Mexico Organic Farmers Conference several years ago.

Resources We Need

We are continually seeking to improve the farm with better systems and alliances for finance, opportunities for farm labor and volunteers, storage and processing facilities, transportation/distribution and help with marketing/promotion.
