About

Ground Stone Farm is located just north of Santa Fe, in Pojoaque, New Mexico. Using organic practices, we grow a variety of crops ranging from greens, herbs, fruits, flowers, and seeds. We are passionate about land-race varieties, and preserving crop diversity, heritage, and story. We use drip irrigation fed by the Acequia del Rincon. We are inspired by the rich agricultural traditions of the land here in northern New Mexico, while employing new techniques to grow nourishing and exciting food for our community.

Additional Info

Mathew Ladegaard got his B.A. in Ecological Agriculture and Local Food Systems at The Evergreen State College. He then spent eight years working on farms throughout the US, and traveling the world collecting seeds, stories, and inspiration. Ground Stone Farm is the culmination of his passion, endless curiosity, and wonderment in the natural world and the history that surrounds it all. Mathew is the farm lead, crew manager, and does everything from sowing seeds, preparing beds, transplanting babies, weeding, harvesting, washing, protecting the plants from bugs and harsh weather, amending the soil, building infrastructure and irrigation systems, all things farm-related. Nina Yozell-Epstein has been working in food and farming for ten years, across the globe and in her home state of New Mexico. Her experience ranges from growing, to distribution, managing farmers' markets, food policy, and teaching farm business development. Nina sees diversified organic farming as a vital way to steward the earth, preserve culture and diversity, strengthen the local economy, and imbue health. Nina is the business manager for the farm, and handles all the sales and distribution. She also makes a line of skincare products from the herbs and flowers grown on the farm. Nina is the founder and director of Squash Blossom Local Food, which supports more than two dozen other local farms in addition to Ground Stone, selling their produce wholesale to restaurants and to the general public in Santa Fe.
